"Empire" S2/EP6 "A High Hope For A Low Heaven" Review: The Lyons Vs The Wolves,

Here the Lyon's roar! After being on hiatus for two weeks, the hit show on FOX returned last night for the sixth episode and it did not disappoint!

This week's episode picked up seemingly after the previous episode where Hakeem, the youngest of the Lyon brothers, was kidnapped. After the kidnappers arrived at an abandoned building, Hakeem noticed something on the backs of the kidnappers, a wolf brand. With Cookie calling Hakeem multiple times and no answers, she gets a video of Hakeem with tape over his mouth. At first, she honestly believed it was Lucious and rushed over to the studios, where Jamal was struggling to record a song after Michael cheated on him. When Lucious revealed to Cookie that he didn't do it, they rushed over to save their son.

While standing on the corner of the street, Lucious and Cookie waited until their son was brought back by the Wolves. With Cookie worrying, Lucious tried to comfort her and try to make her believe that they wouldn't hurt Hakeem. Soon after, a van pulls up and Cookie rushes over to get her son back, but the van was empty. So, aggresively, Lucious pulls the driver out of the van and stomps on his face, but before then, he told Lucious and Cookie that Hakeem asked to be dropped off. Surprise, surprise, he showed up at Anika's house, who seemingly has absoulutely nothing left.

Now, switching the gears a little bit, Becky has a new boyfriend! That's right, Becky has a boyfriend, but he's a rapper underneath Empire. As she tries to keep him a secret, Andre decides to meet with all of the rappers underneath Empire's label to see which ones can be cut. Until, he meets Becky's boyfriend. At the time, he doesn't know that's her boyfriend, he still doesn't know. But, the surprising part of it all is that he actually likes her boyfriend as the two bonded over their love for God.

As for Cookie, it seems she's getting closer and closer to Laz, her concert promoter. With the two talking about getting security for the Lyon Dynasty, the two shared a kiss together. But, what for it... As for Hakeem, after he was kidnapped, he seemed to be going through a power struggle to return back to normal. With the first appearance of his girl group, he struggled to rise back to the top with Lucious's luming dark shadow over his shoulder. But, the love between he and his brothers brought him back to sanity, well that and his leading girl in the girl group.

At the end of the episode, Cookie appeared at Laz's place and quote on quote told him, "Are we gonna do this or what?" and the two begin to passionately kiss. As Laz was taking his shirt off, a certain camera zoom revealed that in fact.... Laz has a wolf branded tattoo on his back. Next week's episode teased that Hakeem is worried about Laz and Cookie's new relationship, and he should be.
